Fetish Alive

Boys R Us is Tucson's Premiere Gender Performance Troupe. We are a collective of dedicated gender queers who have been coming together for over six years to create a roller coaster ride of emotion, imagery, ideas and entertainment that we take to the stage. Gender bending can fall into many experiences and points of view; exploring the ying yang of gender, societal roles, image, self-esteem, self projection and identification. All of these pieces blend together and play an important part in the paradox of our gender transformation.

Our audience enjoys seeing us push the envelope of gender within our community and confront the underlying issues that are not always acknowledged. This validates "the Struggle" and provides a common ground in which we are able to communicate our ideas to our audience. We use the stage to illustrate these ideas of breaking through societies dichotomous set roles and questioning other preconceived notions of gender. We want to expand peoples minds of what gender is, of what it is not, and of what it could be…whether its masculinity, femininity or everything in between…
